St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair of its Marketing Department. The successful candidate will lead the Marketing Department in the Patricia VanBruwaene College of Business. The chair will provide strategic leadership to the Marketing Department, its faculty, and its 100+ student majors. Chair duties include working to ensure the currency of the marketing curriculum and the engagement and impact of the student learning experience; managing course scheduling and faculty assignments; mentoring and supervising full-time and adjunct faculty; working collaboratively and cooperatively in the department, College, and University; and serving as an effective champion of the programs and courses offered by the department. The College seeks a candidate with the ability and interest to teach a variety of marketing and/or sales courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in both seated and online formats. Start date is August 15, 2024.

The Patricia VanBruwaene College of Business opened in its newly remodeled home in the fall of 2020. The University’s undergraduate programs are among the most highly enrolled at the University and the curriculum is being reimagined to offer students a highly relevant, project-oriented curriculum.  The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a terminal degree in marketing or a related discipline from an accredited college or university. Additional consideration will be given to candidates with prior business industry experience.
  • Demonstrate the capacity to lead the Marketing Department in developing and maintaining programs that are relevant to the dynamic field of Twenty-First Century marketing.
  • Demonstrate the capacity to work productively and collaboratively with faculty and staff in the program, College, and University.
  • Be enthusiastic about approaching teaching and learning in innovative ways that generate interest in the discipline, strengthen student engagement, and prepare students for professional success.
  • Be comfortable with, or willing to learn, the use of digital technologies to enhance student engagement and learning.
  • Be firmly committed to high quality teaching and to active, project-based/applied learning.
  • Have the ability to create assignments and learning experiences that are directly relevant to the professional work environment.
  • Be committed to mentoring students, including serving as an academic advisor.
