Purpose of Position
The Marketing Department in the Nistler College of Business and Public Administration invites applicants for an Associate/Full Professor in Marketing with primary responsibilities in teaching, research, and service. Subject to approval by the University and State Board of Higher Education, this is a tenured position, and an appointment will be made at a rank consistent with experience and qualifications. Successful candidates will have qualifications consistent with the rank of Associate or Full Professor.
The NCoBPA is accredited by AACSB and is the largest school of business in North Dakota and serves an average of 1425 undergraduate students and 350 graduate students per year. The Marketing Department boasts a growing marketing major (235 students enrolled on campus, 30 enrolled online), and a growing professional sales minor (33 enrolled). The NCoBPA online MBA program consistently ranked in the top 20% by U.S. News and World Report.
The candidate will have a demonstrated record of teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the field of Marketing and/or Sales, a demonstrated scholarly research publication record in high quality marketing and/or sales outlets, and demonstrated service roles at department, college, university, and in the academy. Candidates with experience effectively teaching marketing strategy, marketing analytics, advanced selling, and/or sales negotiations are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will actively contribute to the department’s initiatives. The candidate’s contributions should align with the missions and strategic plans of the university, college, and department. Department vision is growth of sales minor into a major and ultimate sales center.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Teaching
- High quality teaching at undergraduate and/or graduate levels in the following areas: marketing strategy, marketing analytics, sales, advanced selling.
- Research
- Research and publish in, high quality journals in the marketing field
- Service
- Service at the department, college, university, and academy levels
Required Competencies
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively communicate with students, coworkers, and various external groups.
- Ability to work with and engage diverse students and colleagues within and outside of the Marketing department
Minimum Requirements
- PhD or DBA in Marketing from an AACSB Accredited Program.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness in Marketing in areas such as marketing strategy, marketing analytics, marketing research and/or Sales areas such as advanced selling, sales negotiations. Evidence of scholarly research commensurate with rank resulting in publication in high quality marketing journals.
- Evidence of scholarly research commensurate with rank resulting in publication in high quality marketing journals.
- Evidence in support of AACSB Faculty Qualification standards for Scholarly Academic (SA).
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications
- Evidence of experiential, high impact learning practices and/or active learning.
- Demonstrated experience in developing academic programs and/or sales centers.
