The Washington College Department of Business Management seeks candidates for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor in Marketing for a two-year position starting in August of 2024. Marketing is far more than just selling or advertising. More fundamentally, marketing consists of careful analysis of consumer needs, wants, and preferences, and the development of products and services aligned with what potential customers want. The successful candidate will teach three courses per semester, including Principles of Marketing and upper-level marketing courses.  The course load is three courses per semester. Candidates should have a Ph.D. or D.B.A. in Marketing or a related field such as Management or Sales (A.B.D.’s welcomed). The successful candidate should be enthusiastic about teaching in a liberal-arts environment (with an emphasis on critical thinking, writing, speaking, and faculty-student interaction). This is an opportunity for candidates who would thrive in a collegial environment that supports research, encourages interdisciplinary efforts within and beyond the department, and provides mentorship for junior faculty. Our department values the contributions of a diverse and global faculty and believes that multiple perspectives offer our students the best tools for critical thinking.

Washington College is a top-tier, private, selective, independent liberal-arts college located in historic Chestertown on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, within easy driving distance to Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and Philadelphia.  Founded in 1782 under the patronage of George Washington, this tenth-oldest college in the country celebrates a rich heritage of producing citizen-leaders who have made significant impacts in their chosen endeavors. Its location central to the Chesapeake Bay provides both academic and recreational opportunities.  Business Management is viewed as a liberal art at Washington College; we characterize it as the active liberal art, emphasizing social responsibility and the digital transformation of business.  Our mission is to transform students into leaders to create better worlds.
