Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) seeks to appoint outstanding scholars in marketing as faculty members. IIMA has about 100 full-time faculty members and an equal number of visiting faculty members engaged in teaching, research and consulting. IIMA ranks high globally in both academia and management practice thanks to the quality of our faculty, our alumni and our programmes. For example, IIMA’s post graduate program was ranked 29th in QS Masters in Management ranking and 43rd in Financial Times Masters in Management ranking in 2023. It is ranked the best management institute in the country by the Indian Government’s national ranking framework for educational institutions. The Institute is generous in funding the participation of its faculty members in national and international conferences every year. The Vikram Sarabhai Library at the Institute is considered to be one of the best in Asia in management. The Marketing Area at IIMA is a collegial, research-focused group of faculty members who have published in premier journals such as Marketing Science, Journal of Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Advertising, and the International Journal of Research in Marketing. The area gives importance to research programmes that have significant managerial and societal implications. The Area has an active PhD program. In addition to research, our faculty gives equal emphasis to teaching and case writing, offering innovative courses on cutting-edge topics in marketing. Marketing faculty members also engage closely with the industry through executive teaching and consulting assignments.
We are looking for enthusiastic candidates who have a PhD in marketing or are nearing completion of their PhD program. We are specifically interested in candidates who have an active research pipeline and teaching interests in domains such as Artificial Intelligence in Marketing, Marketing-Information Systems interface, Pricing, Marketing and Public Policy and Digital Marketing. We are also interested in candidates who have methodological expertise in machine learning and quantitative marketing. However, we are open to candidates with research in other domains as well. Recruitment Process: Applicant credentials and associated documents are reviewed by the faculty members of the respective Area/Group/Centre/School, and a decision to invite them to campus to deliver a research seminar is decided by the Faculty Recruitment Committee (FRC)/Search & Selection Committee of the Area/Group/Centre/School, based on the inputs provided by the faculty members. Applicants who are invited to campus are required to deliver a research seminar to the academic community of the Institute and also interact with the faculty members of the Area/Group/Centre/School, Dean (Faculty), and the Director of the Institute. Faculty members of the Area/Group/Centre/School thereafter provide their inputs on the Seminar, fitment with the Institute etc. based on which FRC/Search & Selection Committee makes a recommendation to the Director regarding the hiring of the applicant.
