What are we looking for?

Lycoming College is deeply rooted in the liberal arts tradition and seeks candidates who see the business curriculum as part of this larger goal, integrating business education in an interdisciplinary way with other fields of study, creating a program that helps students look beyond business to the wider world. We strive to make marketing accessible and create meaningful educational experiences for all of our students. We recognize that students come to us with a wide variety of backgrounds and levels of preparation, and we are looking for faculty who will use inclusive teaching methods to make marketing accessible to all.

We are looking for candidates with a PhD in Marketing or a closely related discipline, combined with business experience or a master’s degree in business. Candidates that are ABD may apply with the understanding that their degree must be in hand within one year of beginning the position. The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, advising, and service to the campus community to receive tenure. Candidates should demonstrate an interest in teaching a diverse student body within a liberal arts environment.

Depending on the candidate’s interests, other areas in marketing such as marketing strategy, international marketing, or any other marketing-related topics will round out the teaching load. Over time, this position will help to improve and reshape the business curriculum, as well as teach other courses that suit their interests. A strong commitment to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts and sciences environment is essential.

The business department at Lycoming College offers three majors, Business Administration, Corporate Communication, and Mathematical Finance. The major in Business Administration offers concentrations in finance, management, and marketing. We also offer a minor in Entrepreneurship. We are dedicated to excellence in the classroom and expect the ideal candidate to include both research and service to the college community in the work that they do.
