Position title: Assistant Teaching Professor 
Salary range: Depending on rank, a reasonable salary range estimate for this position is $200-230K. The posted UC academic salary scales (https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/compensation/2023-24-academic-salary-scales.html) set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. The academic salary scales for the Lecturer with Security of Employment series shall apply, subject to the terms of the compensation plan. Position description 

The Rady School of Management at UC San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body. The Rady School invites applications for one or more positions for an Assistant Teaching Professor with potential security of employment (similar to a tenure-track position), subject to the availability of funding. The teaching faculty series at UC San Diego [whose official title is “Lecturer with (Potential) Security of Employment”] carries equivalent rights and responsibilities as the more traditional tenure-track faculty series. Teaching Professors are expected to place a stronger emphasis on teaching and scholarly activity related to education than on traditional disciplinary research activities. This appointment confers membership in the Academic Senate, and, contingent upon promotion, tenure-paralleling security of employment.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels in Marketing. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching of Marketing courses and other core classes, improvement of curriculum, attending faculty meetings, serving on committees, and development and assessment of new educational initiatives.

Qualifications 

Basic qualifications(required at time of application)

  1. Must be currently enrolled in a PhD program (or international equivalent) or already hold a PhD degree in Marketing or closely related field.
  2. Have a minimum of three years of industry experience in marketing-related areas, such as marketing research, branding management and communications, copywriting, and advertising. No teaching experience required. 

Additional qualifications(required at time of start)
PhD or equivalent degree must be awarded by the service start date of the 2024-25 academic year: September 23, 2024. 

Preferred qualifications
Teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels with highly positive evaluations or demonstration of teaching effectiveness.
