Assistant Professor of Business Analytics and Strategy
Fall 2024 Tenure-track position
Stuart School of Business (“Stuart”) at the Illinois Institute of Technology (“Illinois Tech”) seeks to hire an Assistant Professor of Business Analytics and Strategy. Candidates must have completed (or be near completion of) a Ph.D. in a business-related discipline such as economics, finance, marketing, management science, operations research, among others, with substantial emphasis/expertise in empirical methodologies and their applications in business analytics and strategy. Stuart is interested in a scholar who is passionate about contributing to one of the school’s core pillars in analytics. The ideal candidate will be strong in quantitative methods, their application to management, consumer behavior and digital marketing, and would fit in well with Stuart’s culture of multidisciplinary teaching and research at the interface of business and technology, spanning more than 125 years of business education at Illinois Tech. The position will require teaching courses that cover and incorporate all aspects of business analytics, including visual and predictive analytics; the application of state-of-the-art techniques from machine learning to business decision making; social media marketing analytics; marketing models; and digital marketing. Prior exposure or expertise in optimization techniques, analytical decision making, artificial intelligence including large language models, and/or relevant business experience are beneficial to the role.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach in undergraduate and graduate business programs, including courses in the Ph.D. program in Management Science and Analytics. Stuart highly encourages collaborative research across its core disciplinary pillars of management, finance, economics, and analytics, supporting the school’s long-standing history as an innovator in those disciplinary pillars, offering some of the world’s first programs that combine one of the core disciplines with technology, data-driven methodologies, and tight integration with the business community.
Qualifications, Responsibilities, and Compensation
The applicant must have a Ph.D. by August 2024 in a relevant business discipline from an accredited university, possess strong teaching skills, and demonstrate the ability to publish in refereed journals.
Responsibilities include the potential to teach courses at all levels and conduct research consistent with the expectations of a doctoral granting university. Salary is competitive. Benefits include comprehensive health/dental/vision/life and disability insurance options.
