Position: Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor in Business
Appointment: Full-time, fixed term, teaching-line faculty position for 1 year (36 weeks) with the possibility of renewal beginning in January 2024.
Position Summary: Penn State DuBois seeks applicants for a fixed-term non-tenure track Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor position in Business. Preference will be given to individuals who have a strong commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment. Scholarly achievement that demonstrates potential for independent scholarship and research is desirable. - The successful candidate would teach four courses (12 credits) each semester in the business program. Courses could include the following undergraduate marketing courses; Principles of Marketing, Selling Techniques, Marketing Research, Consumer Behavior, Integrated Marketing Communication, Social Media Marketing, Marketing Analytics, Negotiation and Business Ethics. Teaching assignments for the classroom may require teaching day, evening and/or Saturday classes as needed. Participation in campus, university, and community service activities are required. Commitment to diversity is paramount to the mission of the department through service, instruction, and curriculum development. All full-time faculty are expected to engage in scholarly activities, participate actively as a campus, institutional, and professional citizen, and advise a caseload of undergraduate students. Outstanding teaching and mentoring contributions at the undergraduate level and an ongoing commitment to academic and pedagogical excellence are expected.
Qualifications: Minimum of a master’s degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field for a Lecturer rank appointment. A Ph.D. is required for an Assistant Teaching Professor appointment. Experience with online courses is required. Candidate should have a proven record of developing and implementing marketing research plans, integrated marketing communication plans and social media plans. Commitment to high quality teaching evidenced using a variety of modalities, including contemporary distance education technologies. Evidence of commitment to diversity, equity, and social justice in research, service, or teaching. Dedicated to teaching and mentoring first-generation, underrepresented minority, and non-traditional college students.
