The College of Communication at DePaul University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Advertising to begin in August 2024. We seek a dynamic, innovative, and dedicated teacher/scholar who will contribute to our award winning program in public relations and advertising (PRWeek 2022 Outstanding Education ProgramPRWeek 2023 Second Place Outstanding Education Program).

The ideal candidate will have the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in advertising and offer expertise in one or more of the following areas: 

  • Principles of Advertising
  • Research Methods for PRAD Professionals
  • Computational Advertising/AI and Advertising
  • Advertising Campaigns
  • Diversity and Current Issues in Advertising and PR
  • Advertising and PR Ethics
  • Psychology of Advertising

We are looking for individuals committed to both teaching and research excellence, with the passion to elevate DePaul’s national standing in public relations and advertising education. Applications are strongly encouraged from people with demonstrated success in working with a diverse student body.

Scholars with expertise in media planning, digital and social media, and big data analytics will be given prioritized consideration. Applicants are also encouraged to offer more specialized expertise in campaign tailoring such as creativity, entertainment, fashion/apparel, sports communication, and DEIA. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to get involved with the Media Engagement Research Lab and the Center for Communication Engagement. There may also be opportunities to teach courses in affiliated College programs like Professional Communication and Sports Communication.

Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. in advertising, communication, mass communication, marketing, or a closely related field (ABD candidates may be considered with the expectation of degree completion by the start date).
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and research.
  • Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Professional industry experience is highly desirable.
