The Discipline of Marketing in the University of Sydney Business School is recruiting ambitious colleagues to join our team. Your contribution in these positions is crucial in further elevating the Discipline’s profile and impact locally, nationally, and internationally. Working on topics at forefront of marketing scholarship, you will be actively engaged with a wide range of academic, industry and community stakeholders, deepening understanding and developing solutions to the most pressing challenges.

The Discipline of marketing’s core research interests are within consumer behaviour, marketing analytics, and marketing communications. The Discipline has internationally recognised researchers who publish in field-leading journals including the Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Consumer Psychology, and Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science.
We are particularly interested in recruiting colleagues with teaching interests in marketing strategy, advanced marketing research and analytics, and marketing communications and branding, although outstanding applications from any area of marketing are welcome.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- develop and maintain an excellent research program, including regular publication in field-leading journals
- pursue external research grants
- present and disseminate research findings through appropriate channels
- successfully supervise student research at Honours, MPhil, and PhD level
- deliver quality, sustained coordination and teaching performance in the School’s programs
- design innovative educational offerings
- actively support a vibrant collegial culture
- contribute actively to the governance and service activities within the Discipline, School and University.
About you
We are recruiting strong early-to-mid-career researchers with genuine ambition for high-quality research, excellence in teaching, a commitment to service and a desire for involvement in team-based initiatives. The Discipline is seeking to make two appointments at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level of colleagues who exhibit:
- a PhD degree in Marketing or a closely related discipline that is completed (for Senior Lecturers) or under examination / approaching completion (for Lecturers)
- an established research record including publications of at least 1 (for Lecturers) / 3 (for Senior Lecturers) A* journal articles as per the Australian Business Deans Council (ABDC) journal quality list
- potential for future publications in high-quality (ABDC A*) journals (for appointment at either level)
- a proven ability to attract research funding (for Senior Lecturers)
- a successful record of research student supervision (for Senior Lecturers)
- evidence of high-quality teaching in Marketing at undergraduate (for Lecturers), and postgraduate, and/or professional groups (for Senior Lecturers) levels
- a record of course coordination and development (for Senior Lecturers)
- evidence of commitment and service to the University, discipline, profession (for Lecturers), as well as the wider community (for Senior Lecturers)
- evidence of a collaborative and collegial approach to work (for appointment at either level)
