Position Summary:

The Management/Marketing department at the University of Dayton seeks applications for an Assistant Professor position (tenure track) specializing in Marketing, beginning August 16, 2024. Departmental faculty hold editorships at leading and high quality journals, serve as officers in organizations like ACR, and have published work in journals such as Nature, Journal of Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Service Research, Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of Applied Psychology, Academy of Management Review, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Retailing, and more. The department has two nationally ranked centers, The Crotty Center for Entrepreneurship that offers many opportunities for students and the community (from business plan competitions, to consulting, micro-lending, and angel investing) and the Fiore Talarico Center for Professional Selling home of the 2023 National Collegiate Sales Competition champions. Job responsibilities for this position include undergraduate and/or MBA teaching in marketing principles, consumer behavior, marketing research, and related courses. We also expect ongoing publication in leading and high quality academic journals. Faculty research is actively encouraged and supported (e.g., summer research grants, travel support). Further responsibilities include service to the department, University, and academic community, and collaborative engagement with colleagues.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • ABD in Marketing, Business Administration or an equivalent related field, with a dissertation proposal that is nearing completion at the time of application from a program accredited by AACSB or EQUIS
  • Potential of publishing in leading and high quality academic journals as evidenced by an on-going stream of research or by having scholarship already published or under review
  • Effectiveness in teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level in the marketing discipline, or an allied discipline
  • Effective written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may meet all preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
A record of publication in leading and/or high quality academic journals

  • Successful teaching experience as the instructor of record in one or more of the above-listed areas using various learning resources including technology and/or active learning strategies
  • Successful professional/community experience in marketing, sales, or allied areas
  • Successful experience and/or willingness to engage with students from socially and culturally diverse communities as part of class and/or extra-curricular activities
  • Successful experience and/or Willingness to work collaboratively with others (e.g. committee/professional service, co-teaching)
  • Effective oral communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • An appreciation of the University’s Marianist values of theory-to-practice, practical wisdom, & community
