The School of Fashion and Textiles used to be under PolyU’s Faculty of Applied Science and Textiles for many years, but as of July 2022, the university spun it off and established it as an independent school to meet the growing demand and explore creative possibilities. Associate Professor in Fashion Business / Consumer Behaviour / Retailing / E-commerce / Technology Management (Ref. 230327013)
The appointee will be required to (a) teach and lead in the planning, management and curriculum development at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels and supervise research students; (b) secure external competitive research grants, or demonstrate leadership capabilities in academic research, consultancy and other scholarly activities leading to publications in high-impact journals and awards of research grants; (c) lead academic and departmental committees; and (d) perform any other duties as assigned by the Dean of School or his/her delegates.
Applicants should have (a) a PhD degree in Fashion Business or related disciplines; (b) solid experience in university teaching and/or excellent record in academic and research achievement in fashion retail operation, digital marketing, data analytics in the fashion business, consumer behavior, artificial intelligence technologies, retailing and e-commerce, fashion trends or related areas; (c) high-impact research and publication record in high quality scholarly journals or strong potential to publish in top-tier refereed journals; (d) strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research and professional service; and (e) excellent communication skills and be able to use English as the medium of instruction. Preference will be given to those with strong research orientation, potential to publish in high quality scholarly journals and a good teaching record. A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. An appropriate term will be provided for appointment at Associate Professor level.
