Job Description:
The Department of Marketing and International Business in the College of Business at Minnesota State University, Mankato seeks qualified applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching some combination of digital marketing and analytics, supply chain management, and other marketing courses as required. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, contributing to student growth and development (e.g. involvement with student organizations, advising/mentoring), scholarly research or achievement, collaboration with business and industry partners and service to the department, college, university, and region.

  • A typical faculty workload responsibility may include up to twenty four (24) credits of instruction per academic year.
  • The successful candidate may need to teach in other areas as assigned and qualified.
  • May be expected to develop and deliver face-to-face, hybrid, and on-line instruction at the Mankato campus, online, and/or at the university’s additional locations, as assigned.
  • The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues in curriculum design, instruction and evaluation, conduct research productively and mentor students in research, help create innovative strategies for student recruitment, retention, and completion, and may be expected to develop external grant funding opportunities.
  • All faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly or creative activity or research, in continuing preparation and study, in contributing to student growth and development, and in providing service to the university and community (See Article 22 and Appendix G of the IFO Master Agreement).
  • This position will advise undergraduate majors.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in Marketing.

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate or terminal degree in marketing, business or related field. ABD (all but dissertation) candidates may be considered with degree conferred on an official transcript and received in Human Resources prior to September, 2024.
  • Masters degree and/or relevant tested experience in marketing, business or related field (conferred on an official transcript at the time of application) plus three years within the last five years of full-time professional industry experience clearly linked to marketing, particularly in the areas of supply chain and digital marketing and analytics. Evidence of degree completion by date of appointment on September, 2024.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve a diverse population and apply an equity lens to this position including social justice and/or anti-racism.

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
  • Demonstrated effective written, oral communication and/or presentation skills.
  • PhD or DBA in marketing from an AASCB accredited business school.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and sustain an active research agenda within the marketing discipline.
  • Demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching in the marketing discipline using technology for both online and face-to-face courses.
  • Record of successful contributions to student growth and development.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop partnerships with business, education and/or community organizations.
  • Preference given to candidates with expertise in the areas of supply chain and digital marketing and analytics.

Marketing and International Business

The Department of Marketing and International Business is housed in the AACSB accredited College of Business and serves over 550 marketing majors and 200 marketing minors. The Marketing program has been the 5th largest four-year degree granting program on campus over the last five years. Marketing currently has nine full-time faculty members. The Marketing program is expanding its sales curriculum with a new certificate program in Professional selling that includes the offerings of Advanced Selling and Sales Internship courses that will commence in Fall 2023. The program also sponsors two registered student organizations that include the Marketing Club and more recently the Professional Sales Organization. The Marketing program offers a course in the Business Analytics program and recently added Social Media Marketing to the curriculum. In addition, Marketing faculty lead the annual study tour to New York City and biennial study tour to Belize.
