About the Department:

The Marketing Department serves more than 1,200 marketing majors, representing about 18% of the students in the Nazarian College. We hone students’ skills with client-based projects, internships, and career opportunities by partnering with a broad range of organizations from local entrepreneurial and family-owned businesses to Fortune 500 companies in addition to the not-for-profit sector. The Department faculty value a collegial environment of collaboration, and our faculty engage in research encompassing a wide range of theoretical and methodological approaches. Some of the most recent publications by our faculty include top-tier and well-respected marketing journals such as Marketing Science, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Retailing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Public Policy and Marketing, Journal of Consumer Culture, and Journal of Applied Psychology among others.

Position:

The department of Marketing at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is seeking a tenure-track faculty member in Marketing at the rank of Assistant Professor. 

The successful candidate will teach marketing strategy, foundational marketing management courses and other marketing courses according to department needs and have research interests in commensurate areas. 

In addition to teaching, the position requires weekly office hours, attending faculty meetings, some assessment activities, and service to the department, college, and university. The successful candidate will be held to the standards and requirements of the college and department in which he/she/they is/are housed for recommending tenure and promotion. 

Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate will help the Department achieve equitable academic outcomes for all students through teaching, student mentorship, scholarship, and service. 

We are seeking candidates with demonstrated experience in and/or commitment to teaching and working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and members of underrepresented groups.

  • A Ph.D. in Marketing, or Business or Management with a concentration in Marketing from an AACSB-accredited institution by the time of appointment (August 2024)
  • College or University-level teaching experience, both in-person and online
  • Evidence of, or clear potential for, publishing marketing research in the commensurate area in peer-reviewed journals

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience of effective engagement OR potential to engage with a diverse student body
  • Experience using culturally responsive pedagogy that leads to equitable outcomes for all students
  • Experience creating a student-centered learning environment
  • Research experience that includes working with students from diverse backgrounds 
  • Experience adopting inclusive approaches to mentoring
