The Department of Economics, Accounting, and Business (EAB) at Muskingum University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment at the rank of Associate Professor to serve as the chair of our growing department beginning with the fall semester of 2023. We seek an enthusiastic leader with a passion for undergraduate education, who will directly impact students by also providing instruction in the areas of business administration or marketing. 

As a department chair, the successful candidate will work closely with the EAB faculty and with the Division of Graduate and Continuing Studies in leading the department’s initiatives to re-envision programs to meet the needs of contemporary learners. Primary teaching responsibilities will include courses in business administration and management, marketing, or other courses in areas of expertise. The successful candidate will build on academic program experiences and collaborative skills to lead the business department in curricular review, expansion of pipeline enrollment and graduate program offerings, and connecting with the regional business community to strengthen applied learning opportunities. Productive scholarship is expected to attain tenure.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 

  • Doctoral degree in Business Administration or Marketing or related field is required
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible higher education administrative experiences
  • Attainment of Associate Professor status as a faculty member
  • Passion for promoting excellence 
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and motivate faculty colleagues in achieving departmental goals
  • Skilled in the use of data-based decision-making models and experienced in assessment of student learning outcomes
  • Evidence of strong and respectful collaborative working relationship with other administrators, faculty, staff, and community members
  • Creative and entrepreneurial approach to program development
  • Flexibility, persistence, and humor in approaching challenges

Muskingum is a comprehensive university with a strong liberal arts tradition, located just seventy miles east of Columbus, Ohio, in the village of New Concord. The university’s total undergraduate, graduate, and adult-learner student population is approximately 2,500.
