The Department of Marketing in the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas invites applications and nominations for a non-tenure‐track Teaching Assistant Professor position beginning fall 2023. We seek candidates with diverse skills and abilities who want to play a meaningful role in the life of the Walton College of Business.

The desired candidate is expected to teach up to a 4/4 load with the potential to teach in the master’s program and assume administrative responsibilities, if needed by the department chair. The candidate will also be expected to remain academically qualified by AACSB and fulfill University, College, and Departmental service requirements consistent with the rank.

The Department of Marketing is the second largest department in the Sam M. Walton College of Business. We offer two majors leading to a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree: Marketing and Retail. We also offer a Master of Science in Marketing and a Ph.D. in Marketing. Our students ultimately benefit because our faculty collaborate with Walmart, J. B. Hunt Transport Inc., Procter & Gamble, General Mills, FedEx, and other leading companies with headquarters or offices in Northwest Arkansas.

We currently have 21 full-time faculty members and 6 – 8 doctoral students in residence. Our full-time faculty have earned teaching awards and are active research scholars, publishing in top tier journals. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in marketing or a related field from an AACSB (or equivalent) accredited university conferred by the start of employment
  • Two or more years of experience teaching at the university level
  • Qualifications enabling them to be classified as a Scholarly Academic or Practice Academic under AACSB standards – this could include recent publications in peer reviewed journals and/or engagement in professional practice through outreach, consulting, or other activities consistent with AACSB standards

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of full-time industry work experience in the business eco-system
  • Demonstrated experience teaching client-based undergraduate or graduate courses, especially in sales or retail
  • Evidence of high-quality undergraduate and graduate teaching in a business school
  • Active involvement in scholarly research and conference paper presentations
