Georgetown University invites applications for a full-time, 12-month Teaching Professor with administrative leadership responsibilities. This non-tenure line faculty member will serve as the Program Director for the Master of Science in Environment and Sustainability Management (MS-ESM) and teach in the program. The position will be jointly appointed within the McDonough School of Business, The Earth Commons, and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. MS-ESM is a full-time, 11-month interdisciplinary program held on campus in Washington, D.C. The unique curriculum combines principles of environmental science with a foundation in business management, educating students to become ethical leaders on environment and sustainability issues. This premier program currently has an annual enrollment of 45 students with the potential to grow.

This position covers 15-credits of teaching/administrative responsibilities including:

  • Leading the MS-ESM program and overseeing the overall planning and execution of the program in collaboration with the Academic Directors of the program, 
  • Teaching courses in your specific disciplinary expertise,
  • Engaging in short-term and long-term strategic planning to ensure quality of the academic experience,
  • Collaborating with faculty to make continuous improvements to the curriculum and courses,
  • Advising students and engaging with student leadership,
  • Engaging with internal and external constituents to ensure successful outcomes,
  • Coordinating with administrative, careers, and admissions staff, and
  • Collaborating with other Georgetown University schools in the academic spaces related to ESM.

Candidates must hold a graduate degree (a Ph.D. is preferred) in an area related to Environmental Sustainability or an adjacent discipline. We are seeking dynamic candidates with demonstrated ability to successfully teach courses in environmental sustainability with relevant professional experience.  The successful candidate must be a visionary and thought leader who can adapt and guide the program towards the changing environmental  landscape. The appointment can begin as early as May 2023 and the search process will continue until the position is filled.
