The Department of Marketing in the School of Business at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) offers an undergraduate major in Marketing with concentrations in marketing communication and analytics, product and brand management, and general marketing. It also offers minors in marketing insights and in sales. The minor in sales is open to marketing students and students across the campus. At the graduate level, the department offers a Master of Science concentration in Marketing Management and a Master of Decision Analytics concentration in marketing analytics. Additionally, Marketing faculty teach in the MBA, Executive MBA, and online MBA programs. They are also involved in the Ph.D. in Business. The Department has 11 full-time faculty who are active researchers and engaged teachers. Marketing faculty have publications in a wide selection of leading journals including the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Product Innovation Management, International Journal of Research in Marketing, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Public Policy and Marketing, Journal of Service Research, Journal of Advertising, and Industrial Marketing Management.

Chief Purpose of this position:
The Department of Marketing at Virginia Commonwealth University, in Richmond, Virginia, invites applicants for a full-time term faculty position to start in August 2023. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated record or the potential for excellent teaching of an introductory undergraduate course in professional selling and an advanced sales course. The successful candidate will also become the Director of the VCU Center for Professional Selling and faculty advisor for VCU’s chapter of Pi Sigma Epsilon a national professional fraternity for students and industry professionals in Selling, Marketing and Sales Management.
The VCU Center for Professional Selling is central Virginia’s academic incubator for developing professional sales talent. Since 2019, VCU has been named a “Top Sales University” by the Sales Education Foundation. Support from corporate sponsors funds the center’s activities including scholarships, case competitions, and conferences for sales students. The Director of the VCU Center for Professional Selling builds and maintains relationships with these sponsors.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must possess or be a candidate for a PhD in Marketing, or in Business Administration with Marketing as a major or primary concentration. ABD applicants should be on track to complete their doctoral dissertation by August 2023.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with or earning a PhD in Marketing or Business Administration with Marketing or Sales/Sales Management as a major or primary concentration. Ideally, the candidate for this position will have prior experience is sales and/or teaching sales courses at the undergraduate or graduate level. Additionally, strong candidates will have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment, or will have a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
