Job Description:

AIC seeks applicants for a full-time Assistant Professor (9-month) position in Marketing, housed within the Division of Business, School of Business, Arts, and Sciences, beginning August 21, 2023. The successful candidate will be expected to teach core courses, such as Principles of Marketing as well as upper level courses in the major. Marketing courses support the undergraduate Marketing program as well as other business majors.  

An MBA or Master’s degree in marketing is required, although a doctorate in marketing, or a closely related field, is preferred. ABDs will be considered, with the expectation that the candidate will have their degree by August 20, 2024. 

  • Teach 24 credit hours per academic year (generally 12 credits hours per academic semester) as assigned by the  Dean, and maintain a minimum of four scheduled office hours weekly. 
  • Participate in course and curriculum development, and in the ongoing design and continuous implementation of assessment of student learning outcomes and academic programs. 
  • Engage in scholarly activities and professional development appropriate to one’s discipline, teaching responsibilities, and other academic responsibilities.
  • Assist with the recruitment, retention, and mentorship of students. Serve as an academic advisor to students, as needed. Engage and interact with students in positive ways, such as by guiding student research projects, by serving as the advisor to student clubs and organizations, or by mentoring students in other scholarly activities.
  • Be involved in the campus community through service on Faculty Senate, committees, and attendance at and/or participation in Academic Affairs and School meetings, Convocation, Commencement, Academic Awards, Admission-sponsored events, and other activities and events. 

Requirements:

  • Required Degree(s): Master’s degree in Marketing or related field
  • Preferred Degree(s): Doctorate in Marketing or related field
  • Required Field of Expertise: Marketing

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Strong commitment to high-quality instruction in a diverse, student-centered environment and the ability to work with students with various learning styles and backgrounds
  • Enthusiastic, committed teacher-scholar with demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching and scholarship with a demonstrated commitment to the implementation of innovative teaching strategies
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Canvas or, other web-based learning platforms, and the instructional use of technology to teach traditional, hybrid or online courses, as needed
  • Ability to work collegially and professionally as part of a team
  • Expertise that complements and expands that of the department

Work Schedule

The Assistant Professor of Marketing is a full-time, exempt position. Hours of work are flexible to the needs of the department and will require occasional evening and/or weekend event work. This is a benefits-eligible position.
