The WU Competence Center for Experimental Research is inviting applications for a Senior Scientist (Postdoc) position.

Part-time, 36 hours/week
Starting February 01, 2023, and ending after 3 years

The WU Competence Center for Experimental Research is a cross-disciplinary institution at the Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien, with the purpose to further the experimental method in business and economics, and to run the WU Experimental Research Laboratories (WULABS). The laboratory infrastructure consists of a large lab with 32 seats, a smaller lab with 11 seats, an eyetracker/bio-physical devices lab as well as an audio lab with six soundproof cabins. The competence center also offers PhD courses in experimental methods, organizes workshops and conferences, and provides consultation and support for experimental research projects. Responsibilities

We are looking for a self-motivated, highly active and productive researcher, who – in addition to conducting her/his own research and making a significant contribution to the research area – will be expected to support the running of the laboratories and consult other researchers on the use of the experimental method. In particular, your consultation and administrative tasks will include

  • consultation of researchers on experimental methods,
  • maintenance of technical laboratory infrastructure,
  • development of procedures and rules for laboratory use,
  • administration of online recruitment system, and recruitment of participants,
  • organizational support for running experiments,
  • programming of laboratory administration applications, and
  • administrative support for the director of the competence center.

There are no teaching obligations. Supervision of Bachelor and Master theses is welcome.

Your profile

We wish to attract candidates with

  • a solid academic qualification (PhD or equivalent) in Business, Economics, Marketing, Psychology, or a related field,
  • evidence of research quality (e.g., as demonstrated in the job market paper and other papers),
  • ample experience in applying the experimental method in business or economics, and IT-background and skills necessary to run and administrate an experimental laboratory (programming skills are a big plus).

A very good written and oral command of the English language is required (for international candidates, German language skills are a plus but not required). Beyond any formal requirements, we are looking for an enthusiastic, curious person who is passionate about research and willing to take on responsibility.

The minimum monthly gross salary amounts to €3,655.35 (14 times per year). This salary may be adjusted based on equivalent prior work experience. In addition, we offer a wide range of attractive social benefits.
