Description of Department: The Marketing & Management Department is part of the AACSB accredited SUNY Oswego School of Business. The department is home to world renowned scholars and award-winning faculty members who excel in teaching and service. The department is responsible for undergraduate degrees in business administration, finance, human resource management, marketing, operations management, two Master of Business Administration degrees, and several five-year BS/MBA programs. The Department also offers minors in Business Analytics, Entrepreneurship, Sales and International Business. The department faculty advise a variety of student-run clubs such as the AMA, Women in Business, Phi Beta Lambda, SHRM, ENACTUS, Beta Gama Sigma. The School’s other academic department – Accounting, Finance and Business Law- offers undergraduate degrees in accounting, finance, and risk management & insurance, five-year BS/MBA accounting programs. In addition to the Oswego campus, classes are offered in Syracuse and online.

Description of the School of Business: The School of Business values excellence in teaching and requires a commitment to research, instructional development for both face-to-face and online courses and service in a diverse and global environment. The school’s new strategic plan, adopted by the faculty in May of 2021, calls for industry connectedness, a practice informed curriculum along with a strong focus on community engagement and societal impact. Each academic program is connected to practitioners though the various “Program Advisory Groups”, under the new strategic plan. The school has a strong online MBA program which is ranked #40 by U.S. News and World Report. The School of Business has hosted over 60 visiting international scholars over the past twelve years. Along with a global perspective, the school has made significant strides in diversifying its curriculum to make it inclusive to support SUNY Oswego’s Strategic Diversity and Inclusion Plan

The School of Business at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor specializing in Business Analytics. This position will be housed in one of the departments in the School of Business, based on the candidate’s background.

Description of Responsibilities: The Assistant Professor focusing on Business Analytics will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the business analytics area that may include foundations of analytics, data visualization, predictive analytics, marketing analytics, consumer analytics, and advanced topics. Ability to teach courses in any other business disciplines such as Marketing, general management, Operations, Health Service Administration, Finance etc. is a plus. Candidates should demonstrate high level skills in R, Python, Tableau, and other popular data analytics software. A background in application of analytics techniques to solving business problems is a must. Responsibilities also include student advising, research, and university service.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Business Analytics/Data Science/Business or a related area from an AACSB-accredited institution. ABD candidates with degree completion by May 2024 will be considered.
  • A background in application of analytics techniques to solving business problems
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Analytics
  • Case-based and project-based teaching experience
  • Remote/online teaching experience
  • Peer reviewed journal publications
  • Additional relevant work experience
  • Experience working with diverse students in a multicultural environment.
