The Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution, College of Engineering, at Texas A&M University invites applications for a tenured or tenure track faculty position in the Industrial Distribution Program at the assistant, associate, or full professor levels starting in Fall 2023. This is a nine-month, full-time, academic appointment. Candidates should have relevant hands-on experience with: wholesale distribution industry or Business-to- Business (B2B) channels, especially in the areas of value creation and channel development, industrial sales and services, market development for engineered, industrial, products, services, and solutions. 

The successful applicant will teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels; advise and mentor graduate students; develop an independent, externally funded research program; participate in all aspects of the department’s activities; and serve the profession. Through effective industrial advisory committees that provide valuable guidance, the department has numerous opportunities for the development of laboratories and sponsorship of applied research activities. By being an integral part of the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University, there is excellent interaction with faculty in other programs to support large scale college initiatives, as well as access to graduate students to assist in instructional and applied research activities.

The Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution is unique among the 15 departments within the College of Engineering, due to its strong focus on applied research and undergraduate education. Currently, the department has 96 tenured/tenure-track and non-tenure track faculty members to support academic programs in electronic systems engineering technology, multidisciplinary engineering technology, manufacturing and mechanical engineering technology, technology management, and industrial distribution with an overall enrollment of approximately 2,319 undergraduate and 225 graduate students. The faculty also supports approximately $3 million annually in applied research and professional development efforts spanning areas that include embedded systems, communications, advanced manufacturing, intelligent product design and development, information technology management, human-computer interaction, sales management, distribution operations and supply chain management, and educational research.

Qualifications

Applicants must have an earned doctorate in a related field such as Sales and Marketing, Business Management, or a closely related discipline in engineering and/or business. Strong preference is given to applicants with at least one degree in an engineering or related technical field. Strong written and verbal communication skills are also required.
