Position Overview 

Massey University seeks a Professor of Marketing Analytics. The successful candidate will provide leadership in research, teaching and engagement for quantitative marketing, including contributing to the Master of Analytics (Marketing) and the new Analytics major in the Bachelor of Business.

The position is located within Massey Business School, which has been teaching business studies since 1972 and is accredited by AACSB, AMBA and is a CFA® partner school. We are ranked by QS in the top 200 for Management and Business Studies, and Communication and Media Studies.

The School of Communication, Journalism & Marketing is also the only school in the Asia-Pacific region to have accreditation from the ACEJMC (Accrediting Council for Journalism and Mass Communication).

The successful candidate will have a track record of research excellence and academic leadership, including publications in top quantitative marketing (or related) journals, membership on editorial boards of such journals, successful PhD supervision, academic programme development, external research funding and engagement with the analytics profession. 

We expect demonstrated expertise in data science or marketing science, which may be in areas such as discrete choice, regression-based market response models, stochastic models of purchasing or machine learning. 

While the emphasis in the position is on leadership, the successful candidate is expected to be an active contributor to the full range of activities in the School of Communication, Journalism & Marketing, including its teaching programmes, school administration, outreach to the community and profession, and contributions to the wider Massey Business School and University. The successful candidate would also be expected to work closely with our Analytics Industry Advisory Board.

This is a permanent (tenured) Professorial appointment. The School offers strong support for research and a salary level that allows for a very comfortable lifestyle in New Zealand. 

This position is based at the University’s Albany campus, in Auckland. 

Our ideal commencement date is February 2023.
