Brunel University London is a campus-based University situated in Uxbridge, West London, and is home to nearly 15,000 students from over 100 countries worldwide. Founded in 1966, its mission is to practise engaged scholarship, combining teaching and research excellence with the practical and entrepreneurial approach pioneered by our namesake, Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

Brunel Business School is double-accredited business school, and a major part of Brunel University London. Our research drives forward global business and societal transformation, and we put this learning into practice, with original, relevant and impactful teaching that inspires our students to improve the world around them. The quality of our research is reflected by our performance in the latest UK government Research Excellence Framework, in which we have been ranked 20th in the UK in terms of Research intensity and 12th in terms of ‘research power’. In addition, the quality of our teaching and, in particular, the contribution we make to our students’ employability has been recognised in various national and international rankings.

The Marketing Division is an intellectually stimulating, creative and research-driven Division that combines expertise in the areas of Consumer Behaviour, Corporate Brand Management, Digital Marketing, Marketing Innovation, Heritage and History of Marketing, Well Being and Sustainability. This division is also home to the Marketing and Corporate Brand Management Research Group, which has an international reputation in its key areas of research; and whose members have published in 4-star journals, and have won research funding from bodies such as EU, British Academy Leverhulme Trust, ESRC, and others.

In line with our growth strategy, we are seeking to appoint one Lecturer to support existing and new programmes, as well as our research activities. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated colleague, who is willing to learn and grow in Brunel, and join the Marketing Division, as well as the Marketing and Corporate Brand Management Research Group. Post holders will also be expected to participate in at least one of the College Research Centres, or one of the University Research Institute.

We want to identify someone who can make a significant contribution to the implementation of our research, teaching and learning strategy. Teaching duties will include contributing to the undergraduate, MBA, and MSc programmes in Marketing and in Corporate Brand Management, as well as supervision of PhD students.

Applicants for the Lecturer post need to possess a PhD to be very close to completing their PhD (e.g. they have handed in their thesis, and are waiting for the viva voce exam).

The successful candidate’s research portfolio will show interest and activity in topics related to Digital Marketing. Publications on Digital Marketing in the relevant ABS 3-star or above journals will be advantageous for the position. Candidates should, at least, have papers under review in such journals. The post holder is expected to contribute to develop grant proposals in collaboration with other members of the Business School. Thus, experience of working in funded research projects would be desirable.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate potential in teaching marketing subjects to a high standard. Specific experience of developing modules in the area of digital marketing is highly desirable, as is experience in online and blended teaching. Teaching and research interest and/or practical experience in data science will be an added advantage. Obtainment of the Fellow of the Higher Education Academy will be an advantage for applicants. Successful candidates who do not have the Fellowship will be expected to take the qualification.
