The Opportunity

The Department of Marketing is one of the largest providers of tertiary-level marketing education in Australia. From a teaching perspective, we offer undergraduate and postgraduate programs in a range of marketing disciplines across all campuses and using various teaching modes. The Department also has a strong research profile and a vibrant research culture. We are a leader in marketing education and research in the southern hemisphere and are committed to maintaining this pre-eminent position in a rapidly changing educational environment by continuing to deliver teaching and research at the cutting edge of marketing technology and practice. 

The Department of Marketing is currently recruiting one position at either the Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level (equivalent to Assistant Professor). As a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, you will further develop the profile for the Department of Marketing, contributing to all activities of the organisational unit or interdisciplinary area and play major roles in scholarly, research and/or professional activities. 

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Preparation and delivery of lectures, workshops and seminars 
  • Supervision and engagement with honours, postgraduate or PhD students involved in research 
  • Conduct of research and activities to promote research impact 
  • Attendance at departmental, school and/or faculty meetings and/or membership of a number of committees

As a candidate for the Lecturer position, you will have:

  • A strong research background with a commitment to publish in the top-tier marketing journals 
  • Possess a high level of interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, actively engage and educate at a tertiary level

As a candidate for the Senior Lecturer position, you will have:

  • Evidence of high-quality scholarly activity, such as publications in the top-tier marketing journals 
  • Proven record of obtaining significant external grants for research 
  • A strong ability to work within interdisciplinary teams and with external organisations including key industry partners 
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm in developing curriculum materials and an ability to work positively and cooperatively with students

For this position, we are seeking to recruit an applicant with expertise in quantitative marketing and/or marketing strategy (specialising in pricing and/or business marketing). 

Applicants for the Senior Lecturer position must have a PhD and show evidence of publications in the top-tier marketing journals (for example, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Marketing Science, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Retailing, etc.), while applicants for the Lecturer position need to be on track to complete their PhD before starting the position and show commitment to publish in the top-tier marketing journals.

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
