Summary of Job Duties:
The Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas is seeking applications from individuals to serve as the Chair of the Department of Marketing, preferably beginning Fall 2022. The department seeks a collegial scholar who possesses a strong, active research record in any area of Marketing, a demonstrated record of excellent teaching, a desire to mentor junior faculty, and a commitment to working with the entire faculty to grow the impact of the Department.
The administrative component of the role will include the maintenance of a conducive research environment and teaching culture, in addition to stewarding the departmental resources. The Department Chair is also responsible for leading the faculty in managing curriculum related to marketing and retailing across the undergraduate and graduate programs. The Department Chair oversees the scheduling of classes, with support from the Assistant Department Chair. The Chair also serves on the College’s Executive Committee and supports the Dean and Senior Associate Dean in evaluating and supporting college initiatives. The position is a 50% administrative position. The teaching load is typically one course per year.
Additionally, the Department Chair will hold R.A. & Vivian Young Chair in Marketing, allowing for support of the Chair’s research program and department need.

- Associate Professor rank or higher with tenure
- Ph.D. in Marketing or a closely related field conferred by the start of employment
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, service, and research
- Active research program

The Walton College & Department of Marketing: The Sam M. Walton College of Business is one of the nation’s premier business schools. According to U.S. News & World Report 2022 “Best Undergraduate Business Programs,” the Walton College ranks 24th among public business schools in the United States. Location: The University of Arkansas is located in Fayetteville, in the Ozark Mountains of Northwest Arkansas. It is a city of approximately 85,000 with a regional population of over 500,000.
