J.E. Cairnes School of Business & Economics is one of three Schools within the College of Business, Public Policy and Law at NUI Galway. The school has 2,800 students, over 120 faculty, research, and professional services staff. It offers over 30 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The School has successfully attained AACSB and AMBA accreditation as well as EFMD programme accreditation. The School comprises five disciplines: Accountancy & Finance, Business Information Systems, Economics, Management, and Marketing. The School is synergistically aligned with the internationally-recognised Whitaker Institute for Innovation and Societal Change and the Institute for Lifecourse and Society (ILAS).

The school is currently recruiting 16 academic positions across the five Disciplines in the School to support its new strategic vision and ambitions.

The Marketing Discipline’s research environment and range of collaborative projects and activities, serve to elevate members’ research skills and knowledge to contribute innovative and impactful ideas to the marketing field. This research leverages the strong industry connections the Marketing Discipline has cultivated over forty years through multidisciplinary work with a distinctive societal impact.

We specialise in:

  •   investigating emerging marketing technology, teaching the practice of marketing through experiential learning and reflective practice
  •   examining digital and social media technologies in facilitating marketing practices and achieving marketing strategies within organisations
  •   addressing global challenges related to sustainability by focusing on sustainable consumption practices, health and wellbeing, and the environment
  •   exploring innovations in complex systems arising from the intersection of society and business by applying transformational marketing principles and systems thinking methodologiesThe person appointed will have experience of lecturing at third level; relevant research publications in high-ranking, peer-reviewed journals and conferences; and clear contributions related to programme management in a third level environment. They will have knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas:

o International Marketing
o Digital Marketing
o Marketing Metrics and Analytics o Marketing Research
o Selling and Sales Management o Marketing Strategy

Duties will include teaching, examining and administration in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, as well as postgraduate research supervision and involvement in the research activities of the Marketing Discipline, the School of Business and Economic, and the College of Business, Public Policy, and Law.

Salary (for either post): €67,430 to €87,701 p.a. (applicable to new entrants effective from January 2011)
(Appointments will be made on the Assistant Professor (Lecturer Above the Bar) scale in line with current Government pay policy.)

Type B lectureships are those normally carrying duties in research (40%), teaching (40%) and contribution (20%).
