The focus of this position is on retailing, digital commerce/marketing, marketing strategy, distribution channels, and sales, but is not limited to these. The professorship can draw on a reputed and internationally established marketing area with currently 4 full professors, 5 junior/assistant professors, 13 PhD students and an extensive international scientific network.

YOUR TASKS

The successful candidate is expected to contribute to target high-quality research projects at top marketing journals, focusing on practice-relevant topics. This includes the implementation of own research projects and presenting them at international conferences. The candidate is also expected to be involved in the Key Research Initiative “Analytics and Transformation”. In addition, the position entails an active involvement in the Centre for Research in Retailing (IFH e.V.) and liaising with retailing practice contacts. Furthermore, the candidate is expected to teach within the marketing program.

YOUR PROFILE

We are seeking an academic at an early career stage with an excellent Ph.D. degree in marketing or related domains. The candidate should have an established interest in the domains of retailing, digital commerce, and BtoC/BtoB value chains. Demonstrated knowledge in empirical research, quantitative research methods, and data analytics are highly desired along with strong conceptual and analytical abilities. Skills in contemporary methods such as machine learning, text analysis, geospatial data analysis, and deep learning methods will be an added advantage. Excellent English skills are important in this position as is the ability to teach. Equally, we expect a high level of commitment, flexibility, and an ability to work in a team.

In the third year after entering into office, an interim evaluation is held. This serves as the basis for the decision as to whether an extension for a further three years will be granted to the candidate. W1 professorships comprise a teaching load of four hours per week (i.e., two hours per week is one 90-minute course per semester) in the first qualification phase and five hours per week in the second qualification phase.
