General Description:
The Pacific Lutheran University School of Business invites applications for a full-time Assistant/Associate Professor (Tenure-Track) in Marketing starting Fall 2022. Rank will depend on candidate qualifications and PLU criteria for an assistant or associate professor.

Applicants should be able to provide instruction at the undergraduate and graduate level across a range of Marketing courses in the
undergraduate, MBA and MSMA (Master of Marketing Analytics) programs, both in face-to-face and online modalities.

The programs in the School of Business have been continuously accredited
by AACSB since 1971. Faculty and staff seek to advance the University’s vision of academic distinction through enhanced global focus; the synergy between diversity, justice, and sustainability; student-faculty collaboration in research and service projects; and by helping students find their own paths to meaningful and successful lives. The School has a mission of producing graduates with character and competence to be leaders in their communities and in the enterprises they serve. The PLU School of Business is highly respected in the region, and our graduates are sought after by some of the most reputed global and regional organizations. Our faculty are strong educators and scholars who continue to publish their work in the leading journals of their disciplines. The School has over 300 students enrolled in the undergraduate program, a vibrant MBA program and a growing MSMA program. The MSMA program is delivered fully online.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Teach undergraduate and graduate marketing and research courses. Teaching at the graduate level in MBA and Masters of Science in Marketing Analytics (online) is expected.
• Produce and publish impactful scholarly research.
• Contribute to the University and the School of Business through relevant service.

  • Candidates must be academically qualified (Scholarly Academic) in accordance with our AACSB faculty qualification criteria. Being academically qualified includes a demonstrated record of peer-reviewed scholarship, or in the case of new PhDs, the potential to establish such a record.
  • Ability to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, both in- person and online.
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive academic community.

Required Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree in Marketing from an AACSB-accredited
  • institution. ABD will be considered, but terminal degree must be in hand by September 1, 2022.
  • Evidence of commitment to teaching and service.
  • Previous college-level teaching experience in marketing.
  • Applicant must be legally eligible to work in the United States on hire date and legally authorized to work in the United States for Pacific Lutheran University without sponsorship now or indefinitely into the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preference will be given to candidates who are able to teach a variety of courses including (but not limited to) Principles of Marketing, Consumer Behavior, Marketing Management/Strategy and Marketing Research.
  • Candidates with a strong background in qualitative and quantitative aspects of Marketing are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Previous experience in teaching online.
  • A commitment to the integration of content related to diversity, equity andinclusion in all assigned courses and subject areas.
  • An understanding of private universities, specifically liberal arts-based institutions.
