University of Alabama – Associate / Full Professor

The Culverhouse College of Business at The University of Alabama (UA) invites applications for an open rank tenure-track faculty position in Marketing or other business discipline (e.g., Information Systems, Management, Operations Management, Statistics, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or Accounting). Highly qualified candidates may be considered for endowed positions associated with this type of hire. The position start date is August 16, 2022. Candidates must have completed a doctorate in their respective discipline or a closely related field by the start of the appointment.

The position has been created to support the University of Alabama’s research emphasis on issues related to cyber security. Ideal marketing candidates will have a proven record of external funding and publishing and interest in topics like consumer data privacy, consumer reactions to data breaches, management of customer data breaches, financial outcomes of customer data breaches or privacy violations, and the value of customer privacy policies and practices, and managing customer data for competitive advantage.

Preferred candidates will have published in top marketing journals like the Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of MarketingJournal of Marketing ResearchJournal of the Academy of Marketing Science, and Marketing Science. We are open to all research topics and methods, but prefer candidates whose work complements ongoing faculty research activity in the areas of consumer behavior and marketing strategy. Preferred candidates should also demonstrate evidence of excellence in undergraduate and/or graduate teaching. Candidates with teaching interests in customer data management are also preferred.
