The College of Business and Technology invites applications for a Chairperson (Associate Professor/Professor) in the Department of Management and Marketing. The Department Chair of Management and Marketing plays a critical role in the academic life of the College and is responsible for carrying out the College’s vision and mission as they relate specifically to teaching, research, service, and student success. Reporting to the Dean, the department chair is responsible for creating an environment conducive to collegiality and learning, developing and implementing instructional strategies that support institutional goals, and teaching courses in their area of expertise. 

The Chair of the Department of Management and Marketing is a 12-month Associate Professor/Professor appointment. The candidate would need to be qualified to receive tenure upon appointment. Faculty rank commensurate with education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The Chair engages faculty, staff and other internal and external stakeholders to:

  • Maintain a collegial and scholarly environment that supports and encourages faculty excellence in the traditional academic areas of teaching, research, and service;
  • Provide leadership for curricular development, planning, revision, evaluation, and implementation;
  • Engage in scholarly activity appropriate for the discipline;
  • Establish partnerships with internal and external constituencies;
  • Manage course schedules, registrations and instructor assignments;
  • Develop and regularly monitor the department budget;
  • Manage the maintenance of departmental records, catalog, and website
  • Recruit, appoint, supervise, and evaluate faculty and staff. 

Candidates must have a demonstrated record of teaching, research, and service consistent with the rank of tenured associate or tenured full professor.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or other terminal degree in Management, Marketing, or other closely related discipline.
  • Candidates must have a demonstrated record of teaching, research, and service consistent with the rank of associate or full professor with tenure.

  • Ability to facilitate securing external funding and grants by department faculty
  • Curriculum development experience
  • Program review and assessment
  • Fiscal management
  • Knowledge of AACSB accreditation activities
