Job Description:

We are seeking a candidate to teach Marketing and Entrepreneurship at an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) or instructor (non-tenure track) rank. The position will be tenure-track or non-tenure-track depending on qualifications.  The non-tenure track is for three years which may be renewed.  A candidate hired into the tenure-track line is expected to engage in teaching, scholarship and service to the Department, University and the profession. For the non-tenure track position, teaching and service to the Department, e.g., advising, is required.   Faculty hired into the non-tenure track may have the position converted to tenure track dependent on the credentials of the candidate and approval of the Department and University. 

The preferred candidate will be able to teach a wide variety of lower and upper division courses such as advertising, marketing management and strategy in this area of specialization. They will also teach entrepreneurship and innovation classes and lead student consulting projects.  These classes are taught at the MBA and undergraduate level. The faculty member will lead activities in our Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. They will be expected to reach out to the entrepreneurial community and non-profit organizations for possible student consulting and classroom projects.

The teaching load is 6 courses per academic year for the tenure track position and 7 courses per year for the non-tenure track position. Faculty hired on the tenure track are expected to engage in teaching, scholarship and service to the Department, University and the profession.  For the non-tenure track position, teaching and service to the Department (e.g., advising) are required. Faculty hired on non-tenure track may have the position converted to tenure track. Conversion to tenure track requires a completed Ph.D. and approval of the Department and University. Production of peer reviewed scholarship is required for the tenure-track position.

The Business Administration Department stresses active and experiential learning. Faculty are able to get to know students well in small classes which are normally less than 30. The Department is housed in our newest building, the Hagfors Center for Science, Business and Religion. Collaboration within the Department and across the University are valued in order to provide the highest caliber education for our students through opportunities such as internships, faculty/student research and service learning opportunities. Our location in Minneapolis provides a broad range of opportunities for collaboration with industry partners as well as colleagues at the numerous colleges and universities in the Twin Cities.

Requirements:

  • Tenure-track line: Earned doctorate in marketing or a closely related field(Applicants who are ABD are encouraged to apply. ABD applicants are expected to complete their degree before August 2022). 
  • Non-tenure track line: Master’s degree in marketing or a closely related field(Applicants may also hold an MBA with at least ten years of professional experience. Prior experience teaching at the college level is valued)
  • Preference is given to candidates who have earned their degrees at an AACSB accredited institution.
