The Department of Marketing https://business.utsa.edu/department-of-marketing/ is a collegial group consisting of eight tenured and tenure-track faculty members and offers undergraduate, masters (including Masters in Data Analytics), and doctoral degrees with a concentration in marketing. The Marketing Department has been consistently ranked among the top 100 programs by UT-Dallas in terms of publications, with the 2004-2020 UT-D rank being 53 in the U.S. Recent doctoral students have publications in the four top marketing journals and have been placed at: Michigan State University, University of Alabama, University of Arkansas, and University of Cincinnati etc.

The College of Business at UTSA is one of the 30 largest business schools in the nation; is AACSB accredited; offers a variety of master’s programs as well as Ph.D. programs in six areas; and ranks second in the nation in the number of bachelor’s degrees awarded to Hispanics. Responsibilities
The Department of Marketing in the College of Business at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) seeks applicants for a Department Chair beginning Fall 2022. Preferred specialization is consumer behavior/strategy with data analytics involvement or informatics experience. Successful applicants must demonstrate the ability to provide academic leadership, mentor faculty and students, conduct and publish high-quality scholarly research, teach undergraduate and graduate marketing courses, work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of diverse urban populations, and support the University’s commitment to thrive as a Hispanic Serving Institution and a model for student success. Tenure is contingent upon Board of Regents approval.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in marketing
  • Strong evidence of scholarly research (a portfolio of research in marketing and currently be engaged in an active research program in the field, with a strong record of publication productivity appropriate to full professor of marketing requirements at UTSA). This would necessarily include recent publications in top journals in the field, e.g., Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Consumer Research, Marketing Science and evidence of effective teaching. 
  • Evidence of academic leadership
  • The ability and desire to mentor marketing Ph.D. students and junior faculty.
  • Ability to work collegially with and be sensitive to the educational needs of diverse urban populations and support the University’s commitment to thrive as a Hispanic Serving Institution and a model for student success.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specialization in consumer behavior/strategy preferably with data analytics involvement or informatics experience.
  • Experience in leading, supporting and developing faculty in their efforts to incubate, grow and sustain nationally recognized research portfolios.
