Start date: 01.01.2022, the initial fixed term is three years. (This is a fixed-term contract in accordance with Section 2 of the academic fixed-term labor contract act [Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz, WissZeitVG]). The contract provides for a maximum extension of up to three years depending on the associate’s achievements during the first stage. Providing that a position is available and that requirements have been fulfilled, the associate may apply for temporary civil servant status in accordance with Section 28 subsection 2 HmbHG.

Responsibilities

Duties include teaching and research in the respective department or institute. Research associates may also pursue independent research and further academic qualifications as well as acquire teaching experience. These duties are intended to promote academic achievement. Therefore, at least one-third of set working hours will be made available for the associate’s own academic work.

Specific Duties

Our international research team, led by Prof. Dr. Teichert, focuses on behavioral decision-making and new product design, and includes the underlying issues of innovative marketing in a multicultural world. We invite you to utilize and improve our software for analyzing decision-making (wordpress, DCE), implicit cognitions (mobile research platform/app “ask your brain”) and textmining (R/Python). Thus, your research approach should base on empirical and experimental research techniques related to the topics of our chair.

We are looking for highly motivated junior researchers, who strive to pursue an academic or professional research career in innovation & marketing. Candidates are expected to contribute to and influence the research agenda of the Chair (http://www.wiso.uni-hamburg.de/cmi/) and to participate in teaching (five hours per week). High ranked publication projects should already position themselves in the realm of innovation management, marketing decisions and consumer behavior. You will collaborate with our international co-authors and contribute to ongoing research.

Requirements

A university degree in a relevant subject plus doctorate. Excellent research skills and analytical abilities, proficiency in English and/or German and superior communication skills are required. Non-native German speaking candidates should be willing to acquire sufficient knowledge in German for teaching purposes. A strong scientific track record, including first publications in peer reviewed journals in the field of consumer behavior and sustainability & innovation marketing. Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting survey/experimental data (preferably in Stata and/or R). Practical experiences in discrete choice modelling would be of advantage.
