Job SummaryRadford University seeks applicants for the position of Chair in the Department of Marketing in Davis College of Business and Economics (DCOBE) at Radford University beginning August 10, 2022. The position reports directly to the Dean of the College. This appointment, subject to budgetary and Department Personnel Committee approval, may be at the rank of either associate or full professor, preferably at the rank of professor, commensurate with qualifications. If an applicant’s previous experience and/or extraordinary contributions warrant such action, tenure as a member of the Department’s faculty may be awarded upon appointment with the recommendation of the Department Personnel Committee and the Dean of the College and approval by higher levels of administration.
The Department of Marketing is seeking a Chair who will continue to grow a solid and diverse Department. Someone who can provide vision and leadership through activities that include: administering both current and new academic programs; serving as the primary representative of the Department for internal and external constituencies; directing budget allocation and administrative oversight; promoting the professional development of 8 faculty; evaluating faculty; in consultation with the Department Personnel Committee, recommending faculty for reappointment, tenure, and promotion; and working with other DCOBE department chairs, the Director of the DCOBE graduate programs, and the College Associate Dean in the coordination of course scheduling. The Chair typically teaches two courses per semester in his or her area of expertise. The Chair should model excellence in teaching; maintain an active program of scholarship that meets the qualifications as a Scholarly Academic (SA) for AACSB; and engage in appropriate disciplinary, college, and university-level service. We seek a Department Chair eager to energetically lead the Department in the climate of challenges to higher education nationally and in the context of a new general education program (known as REAL). The successful candidate will be a servant leader who has a solid commitment to shared governance.
Required QualificationsApplicants should possess (1) a Ph.D. in Marketing from an AACSB accredited school; (2) the rank of either Full or Associate Professor; (3) an established record of research and teaching excellence; (4) previous administrative experience or college or university service that would demonstrate a capacity to carry out the duties of department chair; (5) experience evaluating or participating in the evaluation of faculty; and (6) experience mentoring faculty, staff, and students.
