UNIVERSITY OF PORTLAND, ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF MARKETING

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Pamplin School of Business (PSOB) at the University of Portland (UP) located in Portland, Oregon USA invites applications for a tenue-track Assistant Professor position in Marketing beginning in Fall 2022.

We seek candidates qualified to teach innovative undergraduate courses in the area of digital marketing with a particular interest in topics such as social media analytics, content creation and communications strategy, customer experience marketing, customer relationship management, omnichannel marketing, and/or pricing analytics with encouragement to develop new classes around these themes. Additionally, the ability to teach courses at the graduate-level (Masters of Business Administration and post-baccalaureate certificate programs) is preferred. PSOB is accredited by AACSB and is committed to diversity, inclusion, and student-centered pedagogy, and we seek candidates who share those values.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • UP is regarded as a balanced institution and regards teaching as central to the mission ofthe University. Accordingly, the teaching load for this position is 3/3 (i.e., a total of 6courses per academic year)
  • Maintain a habit of research productivity in-line with AACSB Academic Qualified (AQ)standards
  • Advise undergraduate students and actively participate in the UP campus community
  • Engage with the vibrant local Portland and regional Pacific Northwest digital marketing,creative agency, business analytics industries (e.g., Nike, adidas, Wieden + Kennedy, OpenSesame, AKQA, ZoomInfo) to develop applied service learning projects and internship study opportunities for students
  • Contribute to PSOB and UP by serving on faculty committees as requested
  • Maintain commitment to social responsibility in the classroom setting in alignment withthe University’s mission

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE EXPECTATIONS

A Doctorate degree in Marketing from an institution accredited by AACSB, or in another closely related discipline is required. Candidates in the dissertation stage (ABD) of doctoral study are welcomed; however, all requirements for the degree must be completed by June, 2022 to remain eligible for continued employment. Applicable industry experience is desirable, but is not essential.
