The Department of Marketing in the Miller College of Business at Ball State University is seeking an experienced, senior-level professional to chair the Department. Candidate will possess a balanced record of teaching, administrative experience, service, and scholarship appropriate for tenured appointment at full or associate professor academic rank. The department chair reports to the Bryan Dean of the Miller College and is responsible for managing the academic, operational, personnel, budgetary, and student activities within the Department. The ideal candidate will be a tenurable scholar and experienced administrator capable of advocating for the Department and effectively mentoring junior faculty. This individual will exhibit innovativeness in identifying opportunities and expanding relationships that will position our Department as a partner and source of professional expertise on campus and externally with our alumni, businesses, and community stakeholders. This position offers an opportunity to work with energetic and collegial faculty and staff, and align with current university and college strategic priorities, including growing the graduate program and developing executive education programs.Prospective start date is July 2022.

Position Function
Serve as chairperson of the department; teach 9 hours during academic year; conduct scholarly research; and perform service.
Minimum Education
PhD or DBA in Marketing or a closely related business discipline from an AACSB accredited graduate program.
Minimum Experience
Minimum of five years of tenure-line faculty service and two years of administrative experience which includes, but is not limited to, course scheduling, faculty recruiting and mentoring, preparation of promotion and tenure documents, management of a department advisory board, service on college level committees, management of a departmental budget, curriculum management and faculty performance assessment.
Minimum Other
Evidence of leadership and communication skills; evidence of effective team building skills. Scholarship record commensurate with appointment at senior-level academic rank.

Preferred Experience
At least ten years of experience in a tenure-line academic position at an AACSB accredited institution and a minimum of three years of administrative experience in higher education or equivalent.

Skills in short and long-range strategic planning; demonstrated skills in hiring, supervising, evaluating, and promoting faculty and staff; demonstrates commitment to diversity and fund raising.

Provide supervision of academic programs, faculty, staff and management of the department office, (e.g. supervision of promotion and tenure, departmental appeals, committee assignments, etc.) - Ranking: 9
