Position Summary:
The Marketing Program Director teaches 3-4 marketing courses (9-12 credits), which may include marketing strategy, digital marketing, marketing channels, careers in marketing, and experiential learning/practicum courses.

In addition to teaching, this position leads the development and implementation of the Marketing Department’s undergraduate “Career Forward” program in partnership with the Career and Employer Engagement Team. This position supports the professional development of 800+ undergraduate marketing students and serves as a key conduit to industry partners. The Marketing Program Director works on multiple initiatives in support of this objective including employer development,
curricular programming and administration, and communications.

This position reports to the Marketing Department Chair and works closely with department faculty and staff, academic specialist, assessment director, and members of the Wisconsin School of Business (WSB) academic and career advising teams.

Principal duties:

Instruction/Teaching (60%)
– Teach 3-4 marketing courses (9-12 credits) in areas such as marketing strategy, digital marketing, marketing channels, careers in marketing, experiential learning/practicum courses
– Course development and preparation, classroom instruction, office hours, grading, student learning outcome assessments, etc.

Career Forward Program Leadership/Administration (40%)
– Design and implement the “Career Forward” strategy for the Marketing Department which broadly includes the following elements:
Program administration
-Collaborate with WSB career teams, Marketing Department and industry on curricular and co-curricular strategy to facilitate student professional readiness
-Collaborate with WSB Undergraduate Program Office career advising staff to coordinate efforts where appropriate
-Lead and develop communication strategies for employers and marketing students

-Employer/Industry development
-Develop new and support existing industry partners to understand hiring needs and student qualifications in partnership with the Career and Employer Engagement Team
-Develop and support industry opportunities for students and employers to engage

-Student development and engagement
-Collaborate with marketing student organizations to align and support industry engagement and career development activities
-Collaborate with Marketing Department faculty/instructors to develop and implement experiential learning opportunities

Requirements

DEGREE AND AREA OF SPECIALIZATION: Master’s degree required; emphasis in marketing or related field preferred

MINIMUM YEARS AND TYPE OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5 years of professional experience in marketing or related field. The ideal candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, high level of professionalism and commitment to support student initiatives.
