SUMMARY: The Assistant Professor of Business – Marketing, a tenure-track faculty member of the Department of Business, teaches marketing courses primarily at the undergraduate level, but also potentially at the graduate level. Colorado Mesa University (CMU) is a state-funded institution that emphasizes quality teaching and research, having embraced the teacher-scholar model. The Department of Business at CMU is currently seeking AACSB accreditation, and our initial self-evaluation report has been accepted. 

CMU is a modern campus nestled in the Grand Valley in beautiful western Colorado, home of Colorado’s wine and fruit country (including the famous Palisade peaches), with close access to some of the best outdoor activities in the region including skiing, hiking, biking, kayaking, and many other activities. QUALIFICATIONS

The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester; some assigned courses may be taught on-line, hybrid, or via distance delivery modalities. Scholarship in the discipline, involvement with advising and service to the department and profession are expected.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: REQUIRED:

  • A terminal degree (PhD or DBA) in marketing or related field with significant coursework (at least 18 graduate credit hours) in marketing required; ABD may be considered with degree to be completed by December 31, 2021
  • Experience teaching college-level marketing courses (two years preferred)
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for teaching
  • Effective communication and organizational skills
  • Proven track record in scholarly activity is preferred, but future scholarly activity is expected

PREFERRED:

  • Ability to teach social media or digital marketing courses
  • Business industry experience strongly preferred given our hands-on, application-oriented approach in the classroom
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching experience, scholarship, service, and advising
  • Working knowledge of SPSS or related statistical software
