About the Opportunity:
Northeastern University’s Bachelor of Science in Management program within the College of Professional Studies seeks candidates for a 12-month, non-tenure-track renewable open rank Teaching Professor position at our Boston campus. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching online and on-ground courses at our Boston Campus and for supporting the Program Lead in growing the program.
A successful candidate must possess strong teaching abilities, a commitment to ongoing improvement as an educator, and a proven track record of publications to uphold the University’s AACSB accreditation.
Responsibilities:
This full-time faculty member is expected to contribute their intellectual and creative capacity to the advancement of the program. The ideal candidate normally possesses a terminal degree in a field related to teaching, has a record demonstrating expertise and engagement in the business management or marketing profession, and has a record of academic publications in business-related areas.
This position includes teaching courses such as:
- Principles of Marketing
- Digital Marketing
- Innovation and Change Management
- New Venture Creation
- Business Strategy
Faculty enjoy a collegial work environment that allows for work-life balance and are expected to be available to students as needed.
Teaching & Curricular Oversight (approximately 80% of time)
- Teach online and on-campus courses.
- In conjunction with the Program Lead, develop and implement course learning outcomes, curriculum maps, content selection, syllabi templates, and updated course materials, including campus-specific coursework as desired.
- Oversee the instruction of specific courses within the curriculum, including mentoring part-time instructors and advising on syllabi.
- Identify and provide recommendations to keep the curriculum relevant and industry-leading.

Professional Development
All CPS full-time faculty members must maintain currency and contribute to student learning in their field by promoting the discovery and dissemination of knowledge through scholarship/research/creative activity and/or professional development.
Research Engagement / AACSB accreditation
We expect full-time faculty members teaching in the Bachelor of Science in Management to meet certain expectations to maintain AACSB accreditation. This faculty member will receive a 3-credit release to conduct research finalized to maintain the University’s AACSB accreditation to build or maintain their Scholarly Academics (SA) Status. SA status is sustained if, within the past five years, the faculty member has:
- A minimum of two (peer or editor) refereed journal articles that generate and communicate new knowledge and understanding and/or development of new methods for studying business and management. Cases published in refereed journals are included here.
And at least one of the following:
- Scholarly book (or significant revision) published or accepted for publication
- Scholarly book chapter
- Service on the editorial board of a peer-reviewed academic journal
- Membership on a committee or other leadership position in a recognized academic association or society
- Recipient of an external research award, research grant, or academic fellow status
- Presentation at a scholarly meeting or invited scholarly presentation
- An additional (peer or editor) refereed journal article
- New textbook or trade book
- New edition of existing textbook or trade book
Service to the University. Service activities may comprise three areas: (1) service to the institution/college, (2) service to the discipline/profession, and (3) contributing disciplinary knowledge to the general community.
- Participate in program and faculty meetings as applicable.
- Serve on committees that support the mission of the program and the vision of the College and wider University.
- Participate in student recruitment efforts.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must demonstrate strong teaching abilities and a dedication to continued improvement as an educator. They must also have experience teaching at the undergraduate level, developing and teaching in-person and online curricula, and proven success in working with diverse student bodies.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and characteristics:
- A terminal degree from an accredited institution in Business Management or a related field by appointment date.
- Proven track record of publications to uphold the University’s AACSB accreditation.
- Demonstrated commitment to mentoring students early in their careers and college journeys.
- Experience with online and in-person course development, facilitation, and innovative use of technology to support learning.
- Commitment to working collaboratively across programs.
