The University of Southern Maine’s School of Business invites applications for a full time, 9-month, tenure track, faculty position in Marketing at the Assistant Professor rank beginning Fall 2025.

The ideal candidate would have expertise in marketing strategy and technology including but not limited to digital marketing, social media technology, and other emerging platforms. A strong background in both theoretical and practical aspects of marketing, with a focus on utilizing technology to enhance marketing insights is desirable. This is an on campus, in-person teaching position with opportunities to teach in online delivery modalities. The School of Business is looking for dynamic and excellent individuals who have passion for teaching and quality research.

Responsibilities include undergraduate teaching of three classes per semester, maintaining an active program of research and other scholarly activity, advising of students, internship supervision, and engaging in university and professional service. There may also be opportunities to teach in the MBA program at the Maine Business School.

The targeted starting date for this position is Fall 2025 and will pay a base salary of $115,000 plus benefits. Candidates must reside within commutable distances from the USM campuses. This requirement is essential for the ability to participate in supporting and building upon our university culture of “student focused every day” and allows for regular participation in on-campus activities, meetings, and fulfills the responsibilities of the role effectively.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in marketing or a closely related field, or ABD with evidence of completed doctoral degree to be provided by position start date.
  • Demonstrated effective teaching, dedication to scholarship and engaging students in research or translating research into practice.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated potential to engage professional community in Northern New England region.
  • The successful candidate should have interest in at least one or more of the following marketing areas: Digital Marketing, Marketing Strategy, Consumer Behavior, Global Marketing.
  • Applicants should expect to teach introductory marketing courses as part of their regular rotation or as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing online courses.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching and service/professional experience.
  • Public and/or nonprofit sector professional experience.
  • Experience advising and mentoring students.
