Department Summary

The Department of Marketing is a highly regarded, nationally ranked academic unit within the G. Brint Ryan College of Business. The Department is located in a state-of-the-art Gold LEED-certified $70 million facility named the Business Leadership Building. The Ryan College is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The Department comprises tenured, tenure-track, and non-tenure faculty with wide-ranging research and teaching interests and accolades. The Department offers Bachelor’s, Master’s, Ph.D. and D.B.A.degrees, serving U.S. and international students. Marketing is one of the most popular majors and minors at the University of North Texas – Denton, the flagship university of the UNT System. Faculty members are expected to publish in leading journals in the field of marketing (e.g. Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Consumer Psychology) and to engage in leading research that supports UNT’s status as a Tier One research university. The Department offers an environment that supports faculty research, including a 2/2 teaching load, subject pools and laboratories in behavioral research and modeling and simulation.

Position Overview

The Department of Marketing Department of Marketing G. Brint Ryan College of Business (unt.edu) in the G. Brint Ryan College of Business G. Brint Ryan College of Business (unt.edu) at the University of North Texas seeks to fill one faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Rank and tenure are negotiable based on academic record. The academic appointment is for the AY 2025/2026, and the start date is negotiable. The position will remain open until filled.

Candidates will be required (1) to conduct and publish high-quality research in top journals (i.e., UTD and FT50 journals), (2) to develop and teach Marketing courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and (3) to work with and mentor doctoral students. The successful candidate is also expected to play a secondary role in service activities in the Department, such as committee work.

Minimum Qualifications

The ideal candidate is required to hold a terminal degree in Marketing or a closely related field from an AACSB-accredited institution.

Candidates who are ABD will be considered, but the position requires completion of degree by date of appointment.

Candidates seeking appointment at the Associate Professor rank should have a sustained record of scholarship and external research funding, successful mentoring of junior faculty, undergraduate and graduate students, and recognized service activities. Must meet UNT’s criteria for tenure.
