Summary: Assistant Professor of Marketing at New Mexico State University (NMSU)

Classification Summary:
The College of Business at NMSU is fully accredited by AACSB. The Department of Marketing houses a vibrant Doctoral Program in Marketing, and is the only University in the state of New Mexico to offer Doctoral Training in Business Education. The Marketing Department also includes a dedicated Behavioral Research Facility with related research technology for Faculty and PhD student usage. The position is targeted at new PhD’s seeking their initial Tenure Track appointments, and early-career Assistant Professors. Although we welcome candidates in all marketing areas, preference will be given to applicants having research or teaching interests in Consumer Behavior.

Classification Standard Duties:
Position duties include publishing research, teaching, advising and mentoring students, and service to the department, college, university, and community. The position requires continued scholarly activity, including research publications in referred academic journals. Courses to be taught will be determined based on the experience and interests of the candidate as well as the needs of the Marketing Department, and may include online instruction and/or graduate instruction, including in the PhD program and the department’s MBA Program offering. The successful candidate will also actively serve on graduate committees and supervise PhD dissertation research. The initial teaching course load is a 2/2 load for the first three academic years; thereafter, the teaching load will generally rise to the current standard for the department of 5 classes per year.

Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
Applicants must possess an earned PhD in Marketing, PhD in Business Administration with concentration/focus in Marketing, or PhD in a closely related discipline with marketing research experience (e.g., postdoc) from an AACSB accredited institution, by the date of hire. Candidates must also have a solid record of scholarly research publication, or the promise of publication (i.e., for new PhDs), commensurate with their career level and requisite experience in the academic profession.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Research and teaching experience in consumer behavior is preferred; but all qualified candidates in other marketing areas will be considered. Candidates should have demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication, and competency to interact effectively with students, colleagues, and staff. Applicants should have experience in classroom teaching, with demonstrated teaching effectiveness. Motivation to pursue external research funding, graduate student mentoring and work on multidisciplinary teams is desirable.
