Overview

The Department of Marketing, Strategy, Leadership and Entrepreneurship (MSLE) in the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business invites applications for a Lecturer, Senior Lecturer or Professor of Practice position in marketing and entrepreneurship. This is a non-tenure track, academic-year (nine-month) position with the opportunity to earn two additional summer months’ salary. The typical teaching load for this position is 8-12 courses (24 credit hours) per academic year. In addition, the role will involve working with the Director of Entrepreneurship on the Logan Campus in managing the Entrepreneurship Center on the Price Campus and mentoring students who are starting and building businesses there.

Salary and benefits packages will be competitive and commensurate with education and experience. Anticipated start date is January 2021.

Responsibilities

Excellent teaching and effective student mentoring are required. Candidates will be affiliated with the Center for Entrepreneurship in the Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University.   • Effectively teach “in-classroom” and “online” courses in marketing and entrepreneurship originating from the Price campus.
  • Mentor students who are starting and building businesses throughout the state.
  • Participate as-needed in activities sponsored by the Center for Entrepreneurship.
  • A strong commitment to department, university, and community service.

Qualifications

Lecturer:  MBA or Master’s Degree in a related field from an accredited university and experience in marketing and entrepreneurial endeavors.

Senior Lecturer:  MBA or Master’s Degree in a related field from an accredited university and experience in marketing and entrepreneurial endeavors. Minimum of 6 years, full-time, successful teaching experience.

Professor of Practice:  Ph.D. in a related field from an accredited university and experience in marketing and entrepreneurial endeavors.

All Candidates:

  • Demonstrated success teaching at the university level.
  • Demonstrated experience as a mentor, advisor, and role model to students.
  • Leadership experience in a startup, small business, or rapidly growing company preferred.
  • Experience creating new products, services, or company divisions preferred.
  • Willingness to take on responsibilities in the Center for Entrepreneurship.
  • Highly effective communication skills, including listening, writing, and speaking.
  • Ability to work productively and cooperatively with colleagues and student interns.
  • A strong commitment to stay current and professionally qualified in the field.
