Job Posting Title: Tenure-track Assistant/Advanced Assistant/Associate Professor of Marketing

The Department of Marketing in the Sam M. Walton College of Business is hiring for a tenure-track Assistant/Advanced Assistant/Associate Professor of Marketing. Candidates are expected to publish research in top-tier academic journals that contribute to the body of research in marketing. In addition to publishing in elite academic marketing journals, the candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses, mentor Ph.D. students, and fulfill University, College, and Departmental service requirements consistent with the rank. There is also an opportunity to teach graduate courses and be involved with Executive Education programs.

The department is the second largest department Walton College and offers a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, a Master of Science in Marketing focused on brand management, and a Ph.D. in Marketing. Marketing students ultimately benefit because department faculty collaborate with Walmart, J. B. Hunt Transport Inc., Sam’s Club, Tyson and other leading companies with headquarters or offices in Northwest Arkansas.

The department focuses on two strategic initiatives – sales and retail. It hosts one of the largest internal sales competitions and a retail shopper marketing brand challenge with partners including Walmart, Tyson, General Mills, Kimberly-Clark, Cintas, Fastenal, PepsiCo, TTI/Hart, Hershey’s, Hallmark, and Del Monte. The department also works closely on programming and curriculum innovation with the Retail Advisory Board.

The department is also a member of the Southeast Marketing Symposium (SMS), participating in and hosting an annual event that brings together faculty and doctoral students from 11 leading institutions
from the Southeastern US. Graduates of our department’s Ph.D. program have placed at LSU, Villanova University, University of Mississippi, Colorado State University, Portland State University, Wayne State
University, and Clemson State University among other universities.

There are currently 24 full-time faculty members and 5 doctoral students in residence, and several new full-time faculty are joining the department in Fall 2024. Full-time tenure-track/tenured faculty are active
research scholars who publish in top tier marketing journals, and several full-time faculty members have  received distinguished Walton College research and teaching awards. Additional information about the

Minimum Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in marketing (not DBA) or a closely related field from an AACSB accredited College of Business, conferred by the time the candidate begins the position.
• A demonstrated record of publishing in elite, top-tier marketing journals.
• A demonstrated record of high-quality teaching in undergraduate and/or graduate courses.
• Classified as a Scholarly Academic by AACSB standards through previous publication in peer-reviewed academic marketing journals.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Two or more years of experience as an Assistant Professor.
• Relevant industry work experience.
• Academic research and/or teaching experience in relationship marketing, retail/sales/services, branding, consumer decision-making, and/or digital marketing.
• Theoretically grounded applied research that demonstrates the potential for industry collaboration.
• Demonstrated ability to teach or mentor doctoral students.

Job Responsibilities:
60% – Conduct research in the field of marketing. Successfully publish research in top-tier, peer reviewed marketing journals. Research quality and output should be sufficient to make/keep regular progress toward tenure status.

30% – Ability to teach a full range of marketing courses, nine credit hours per academic year. Provide office hours for students as prescribed by the department chair. Provide grading feedback to students in a timely manner and turn in grades by departmental and university deadlines. Courses may be a combination of undergraduate and graduate level courses. Delivery method may include face-to-face instruction, online, in dependent study, or other blended methods. Face-to-face courses may be taught during the day or evening on the Fayetteville campus.

10% – Includes but is not limited to cooperating with administration in program and course development, participating on college and university committees, serving on peer evaluation teams, and participating in
department and program assessment. Perform other essential duties and tasks, as assigned.
