The College of Management at the University of Massachusetts Boston invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Sport Business, beginning from September 1, 2021.
Candidates must have completed, or must be in the final stages of completing, a doctoral degree in Sport Management or Business Administration with a sport focus, or a Ph.D. in a closely related field, prior to the date of appointment. Candidates with an interdisciplinary background in studying social equity, diversity, and justice in the sport business are also encouraged to apply. ABDs who will complete the doctorate by no later than August 31, 2021 will be considered.
The responsibilities of this position include academic research, teaching, and service. A candidate will have a demonstrated potential to conduct scholarly research and publish in high-quality peer-reviewed academic journals in areas related to sport business. The candidate will have a demonstrated potential and commitment to effective teaching in graduate and undergraduate courses. The candidate will also actively serve the College, the University, the academic profession, and the community at large.
Specifically, the candidate for this position will play a significant role in developing the undergraduate concentration (and potentially a graduate program) in Sport Business. Responsibilities of the position include developing undergraduate and graduate courses/programs in areas such as sport analytics, sport entrepreneurship, sport finance, sport management, sport marketing and sponsorship. Industry experience or related qualifications are strongly preferred, as the candidate will be expected to nurture internship programs in sport business. The candidate will be expected to interact effectively with a culturally diverse population of students, colleagues, and constituents (e.g., mentoring students and collaborating with colleagues in other disciplines and serving on committees for enrollment, recruiting, and marketing). Further, the candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to ongoing research productivity and contribution to the academic profession (e.g., serving as a reviewer for journals, presenting at academic conferences and engagement in other academic roles).
