Position Title: Marketing and Hospitality: Department Head and Associate or Full Professor

Department: 2240|Marketing

Responsibilities:

The Position of Department Head:

The B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration is seeking a dynamic leader and administrator who can lead a team of faculty responsible for undergraduate programs including a major in Marketing and minors/concentrations in Sales, International Business, and Business Analytics. Reporting to the Dean of the Moody College of Business, the Head of the Department is responsible for administering the Marketing Department which includes but is not limited to, faculty recruitment and development, faculty evaluation, program development, program review, curriculum development, student advisement, departmental budgeting and budget control, class schedule planning, and general supervision of the teaching, research, and service and related activities of the department. The Department Head is responsible for providing guidance in defining the Marketing Department’s strategic priorities, building a culture of collaboration and engagement among faculty, staff, and students; recruiting and retaining a diverse and highly qualified student body and faculty; and grow the Department’s undergraduate programs. Additionally, the Department Head will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in marketing, quantitative methods, or business statistics, conduct research and discharge other duties normally associated with a university faculty appointment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide vision and strategic leadership for the Department in order to  advance its goals in concert with the broader vision, mission, and goals  of the College.  
  •  Increase the Department’s enrollments in its undergraduate programs.
  •  Raise the external scholarly reputation of the Department. 
  •  Ensure that faculty members are appropriately mentored in their  teaching, research, and service responsibilities to enhance their prospects for career success.
  • Manage the operations of the Department, including budgeting, processing paperwork, scheduling courses, filing reports, and executing the various required annual processes in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Establish and interact with a departmental advisory board of professionals from the disciplines within the Department who can help provide a wide variety of support for the Department.
  • Build strong relationships with industry and community leaders. 
  • Act as the Department communications liaison in an effective, transparent, and timely manner to and from the Dean’s office, and other departments and units.
  • Function as the chief Department representative and spokesperson in all forums.
  • Maintain a record of scholarly accomplishment.
  • Supervise Department staff members.
  • Teach appropriate courses with a teaching load determined by university guidelines.

Qualifications:

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:

An earned doctorate in Marketing, Quantitative Methods, Statistics or related area from an AACSB accredited business school. 

Credentials to be appointed to the rank of associate professor or professor in a discipline within the Department. 

An established record of high-quality scholarship in a discipline within the Department. 

A demonstrated ability to lead the Department’s undergraduate and graduate teaching, its research, and its overall contribution to the missions of the College and the University. 

A record of effective teaching and service.
