DEAN, COLLEGE OF BUSINESS AND ANALYTICS
Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIU) invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the College of Business and Analytics (COBA). The Dean is the chief administrative and academic officer of the College of Business and Analytics and reports to the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. The successful candidate is expected to offer strategic leadership, a focus on innovation, and a vision for the future that will inspire the faculty, students, and staff to greater academic excellence.
COBA offers residential undergraduate degree programs in Accounting; Business Analytics; Business and Administration; Economics; Finance; Hospitality, Tourism & Event Management; Management; Marketing; and Quantitative Economics; residential Master’s degrees in Accountancy, Economics, and Public Administration; doctoral programs in Business Administration (specializations in Accounting, Finance, Management, and Marketing) and Economics; several online undergraduate degree programs and master’s degree programs (Accountancy, Business Administration, MBA, MBA w/Analytics for Mangers, MS in Business Analytics). The Master of Accountancy and Business Analytics programs are STEM designated. The College has 29 full-time faculty members, approximately 776 undergraduate and 186 graduate students. COBA holds dual AACSB accreditation in business and accounting. Hospitality, Tourism & Event Management is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration (ACPHA), and Public Administration is accredited by the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NAASPA). The College of Business and Analytics has a wide range of student services including the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Academic Success Center, and the Business Placement Center. Nestled in the beautiful hills of Southern Illinois, SIU is a Research University: High Research Activity and a 2015 Community Engagement Campus, as classified by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. Carbondale, IL, is located in a region characterized by its natural beauty due to the Shawnee National Forest, Giant City State Park, and other outdoor opportunities. The city is a hub for the region yet maintains a small town feel with college town amenities. It is also easily accessible to a host of midwestern (e.g., St. Louis, Indianapolis) and southern (e.g., Nashville, Memphis) cities within a 2-4 hour drive. The local airport recently started offering a connection to Chicago’s O’Hare airport.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate must possess an earned terminal degree in an appropriate discipline for the College; a distinguished record of teaching, research and service consistent with the expectations of a tenured Professor at a research university; demonstrated leadership experience in higher education administration or high-level executive experience; experience in budget, planning, personnel, promotion, tenure, program review and AACSB accreditation; success with student success initiatives; fund and friend-raising. Applicants must also demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills; the ability to articulate effectively the College and University’s missions to students, faculty, alumni, external funding agencies and other decision-making bodies; the ability to develop and sustain collegial and productive relationships with on- and off-campus constituencies, business professionals and fundraising sources on behalf of the College; and a commitment to ethical and high standards in education, cultural diversity and equal opportunity.
