Lecturer/Clinical Professor in Marketing

Position:  The Auburn University Harbert College of Business seeks qualified candidates for a nine-month, non-tenure track, non-tenure eligible full-time teaching faculty position(s) in Marketing starting in August 2022. The contract is renewed annually based on need, funding, and performance. The nine-month position can be filled as a lecturer/clinical professor depending on the background and experience of the candidate.  This nine-month position is designed to support the Marketing Program of Auburn University’s Harbert College of Business which includes major and minor programs in marketing as well as a minor in professional selling which is slated to begin admittance in Fall of 2022.

Responsibilities: The primary responsibility of this position is to teach undergraduate and graduate marketing and sales courses and support the growth of the sales minor and a possible future sales center.  The successful candidate will be expected to bring experience, innovation, enthusiasm, technology, and leadership to their marketing and sales courses.  

Candidates with an industry background and/or a teaching record in marketing and sales or related field are strongly desired. Under typical circumstances, the teaching load for the position will be equivalent to three to four three-credit hour courses per semester, which includes course development and course management activities. In addition to instructional duties, successful candidates will be expected to help develop and promote the department’s marketing and sales initiatives. Candidates should be comfortable in teaching different modalities including face-to-face, online, and hybrid face-to-face & online. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience.

Job Qualifications: Because this is a teaching intensive position, candidates must have a record of high-quality teaching experience and/or significant industry experience focusing on marketing and personal selling/sales management. Successful candidates will be required to possess a Master’s degree or higher in business or an appropriate related discipline area at the time employment begins. Candidates with a Ph.D. are desired, and terminal qualification is required for clinical professorship consideration. Selected candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of appointment and continue working legally for the term of employment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.

About the Department:  The Marketing Department is focused on “strategic marketing” with an emphasis on the organizational frontline as a shared focus of our faculty. The Auburn Marketing program includes an undergraduate major and support of our MBA programs.

Successful candidates for this position will join an existing faculty team that currently includes fourteen full-time, professionally qualified faculty. The Marketing department is growing and is currently the second largest major in the Harbert College.
