Minimum Qualifications

A successful candidate for the Assistant Professor position holds a Ph.D./ DBA in Marketing from an AACSB accredited university. Candidates who are ABD will be considered.

  • The department is especially interested in candidates with teaching and research interests in one or more of the following areas – marketing analytics, digital marketing, international marketing and sales management.
  • Those with knowledge/expertise in other upper level marketing classes may also be considered.

Description of the Department or Unit

Marketing & Supply Chain Management is currently the largest department (in terms of undergraduate degree seeking students) of six in the John A. Walker College of Business. The approximately 827 declared Marketing majors who complete the required coursework in Marketing receive a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree.

There are currently three concentrations offered – General Marketing, Professional Selling, and Digital Marketing. Business students can earn minors in Professional Selling, Digital Marketing, and Supply Chain Management. Minors in Marketing, Professional Selling, and Digital Marketing are also offered to non-business majors. Graduate level courses are offered in theMBA/ MS in Analytics program.

The Marketing & Supply Chain Management Department consists of 16 tenured/ tenure track and 11 adjunct faculty members. The Walker College of Business is one of the largest public business schools for undergraduate students in the University of North Carolina system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Instructional duties may include curriculum development, online, and fully residential instruction, as well as teaching in the MBA/ MS in Analytics programs.
  • The teaching load is 3 class sections per semester (usually with no more than 2 preps) with a course release in the new faculty member’s first semester.
  • Faculty members will be expected to fulfill both research and service requirements as well.
